our history

Our journey as Vista Lutheran Church officially began in May 2019. But our history is much longer…

Vista started as a consolidation of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and Wooddale Lutheran Church, two faith congregations with a combined 160 years of faithfulness and outreach to the community of St. Louis Park and beyond. So while we are new, we also have deep roots in this community. And we look forward to continuing to be a faithful presence in this community as we start our next chapter.

Prince of Peace Lutheran Church

Starting in 1949, Prince of Peace played a faithful role in the lives of so many over it’s 70 year history. After the consolidation of our congregations, we voted to sell the old Prince of Peace building to CommonBond Communities to that the site could be dedicated to affordable housing. We hope that through this decision the legacy of this chapter of our history will be one of abundant life for more of our neighbors.

Wooddale Lutheran Church

Founded in 1929, Wooddale stood as strong community of faith at the of 40th Ave and Wooddale for over 85 years. After the consolidation, we decided to house our ministries in the Wooddale building. And so our story continues at the site of 4003 Wooddale Ave S.
