Part-Time Building Manager

Location: Vista Lutheran Church

Compensation: $22 per hour

Schedule: Part-time, 18 hours per week

(scheduled across 4 to 6 days per week)

Position Summary

Vista Lutheran Church seeks a self-motivated Building Manager who can work independently and alongside our staff, church members, and community groups that use our facility. This role ensures our building runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently to support our community's daily ministries and activities.

Summary of Duties

• General Building Operations (Daily/Weekly): Manage heating, cooling, security, lighting, and plumbing systems.

• Maintenance & Facilities (As Needed):

  • Perform minor building maintenance (such as changing lightbulbs).

  • Oversee and coordinate church contracts (security, elevator, fire extinguishers, sprinklers, garbage, and lawn care) in conjunction with the Property Ministry.

  • Keep accurate contract records and maintain the boiler operator logbook (licensed boiler engineer).

  • Manage snow and ice removal to keep entrances—including the courtyard, parking lot, and handicap entrances—free of snow and debris between major plowings.

  • Create and maintain the operating budget and storage area plan.

• Setup & Event Support: Set out chairs and tables for church meetings and activities as needed, and coordinate with outside groups regarding facility logistics.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.

• Successful completion of a background check.

• Ability to demonstrate good judgment and ethical behavior.

• Physical ability to lift, bend, climb, reach, and perform routine maintenance tasks.

• Previous maintenance experience preferred.

• Licensed boiler engineer (or willingness to obtain a license).
