Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God. - Hebrews 13:16
If you received a stimulus check and don't need it for your own well-being, we challenge you to give at least half of your check to our stimulus fund challenge. Your gift will be split between STEP and going directly to families in St. Louis Park who are in need. You can give today on our website or to the church office by putting "stimulus fund" in the memo line. Direct any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org or 952-926-7603.
Your Gift to Families in St. Louis Park
We are currently working with trusted partners in local schools to reach families who are struggling due to COVID-19 and its impact on the economy. Many can access existing programs in the city and elsewhere. And some sadly do not qualify or have fallen through the cracks. When a family is referred to us, we give them the funds that they need up to a certain amount. So your gift goes directly to these families that can't access these other programs so that they can pay for rent, transportation, healthcare, or anything else they need to make sure their family is stable and cared for.
Your Gift to STEP
As a long-time trusted partner in our community, we went to them first to see what needs those in the community might have. STEP empowers lives and restores hope in St. Louis Park. Donations will be put to use directly in our community. STEP responds to neighbors’ basic needs, with programs to provide food, housing assistance, transportation, connection to resources, and professional social work services. STEP’s programs responds needs of all ages, including formula and diapers for babies to rides to medical appointments for seniors. Over three thousand neighbors receive assistance from STEP programs.
The health and economic disruptions of the pandemic has bourn disproportionate impacts on lower income neighbors. Lower income families have lost their jobs in greater numbers and more often experienced barriers to unemployment benefits. Many of our neighbors have fallen behind on rent and lost access to reliable transportation. Families have had their challenges compounded with the childcare and educational demands. STEP continues to respond to lessen many of these worries. STEP continues to provide food, performing more food deliveries than ever before. STEP’s housing assistance program has expanded over 800%. Parents are provided with birthday bags, school supplies, diapers, and kid-friendly food items so they can focus on other vital priorities and stay resilient.
If you would like to give directly to STEP, instead of having your gift split between STEP and going directly to families, you can do so at this link.
